Location
Eza Watches are assembled in Pforzheim, Germany. This is the place where it all began for Eza. Pforzheim has a grand history in watch and jewellery making. Therefore it feels not less than right to go back to the roots of Eza. The experienced watchmakers assemble every watch by hand and then do the quality check technically and visually. When a part is only a little less than perfect, they will not use it. This is one of the ways to assure that only the best quality watch products arrive at our clients.
The story of this watch
Every watch has it’s own story and this is the one of the 1972. We have always been looking back to the history of Eza for the design inspiration of the brand’s watches. With this series, we went a step further. Instead of taking smaller design elements of previous Eza watches, we went looking for a real watch from back in the days. After a long search we found this diver watch all the way in Australia (see picture). It was owned by a collector who had two pieces, one with a blue and one with a black dial. We explained him our story and he agreed to sell us one. We took this watch and replicated it for the 1972 limited edition series . With the watch on this page, we took a lightly different path and created a watch with modern specifications very much inspired on the original piece. (read more about this below)
Vintage design, modern materials
This 1972 series is strongly inspired by the original Eza watch. With this as a basis, the watch has been enlarged to 39.5mm and all parts have been improved. So is the current case and crown made from highly durable 316L steel, the glass is a domed sapphire glass which is extremely hard and very scratch resistant. The bezel inlay is made from black ceramic which is also very hard and scratch resistant and doesn’t change colour over time in the sunlight. All these new materials made it possible to guarantee a water resistance of 200 meters. Inside the watch ticks the modern and durable Sellita SW-200 movement. All this together makes the watch very modern in its technical specifications but looks very much like a watch form the 1970’s.
The Complete set
If you decide to purchase this watch, you will get the following complete package. the watch itself with a black marbled leather strap including custom made EZA buckle. A piece of baker’s twine with a wax seal is attached to the strap. This shows that the watch is completely unworn when it arrives. The watch comes in a wooden box with black marbled leather on the outside. Inside you will find a black cushion with the watch. under this there is a custom EZA push-pin tool to change any straps or buckles. In the lid of the box houses a tropic style rubber strap with the same buckle as on the leather strap. Finally there is an envelop added to the set with the warranty certificate and a small card with the performance of the movement of your exact watch, filled in by one of the watchmakers in Pforzheim.
